Kyiv–Kharkiv is a collaborative photo project born from displacement, memory, and return.
In the early days of the full-scale invasion, my close friend, Lada Sabova—originally from Kharkiv—was forced to evacuate with her family. In the summer of 2023, she made the decision to return to her hometown. As a gesture of support and connection, I gifted her a roll of film containing 24 frames I had captured in Kyiv.
She continued the story by photographing Kharkiv on the same roll. So many of us have been displaced—some live between two cities, others may never return home. In this collaboration, we make the two cities overlap in one project, where each frame becomes a quiet dialogue between places shaped by war, resilience, and personal memory.
